ONMI News brief. Significance of July 4th & 9th. The birth of two nations, 235 years apart .
Dear co-laborers in the Great Commission,
Shalom! Greetings in the name of Yeshua the Messiah. My family and I hope that all of you had a blessed memorable celebration of US independence on July 4th! On July 4th, we gathered in our our home here in Lanesborough, MA with family and friends in fellowship and worship. America was conceived here in MA. This is where the Pilgrim first came to America and it was here where the revolution war of American Independence started. In reflection of July 4th, we prayed for our families, our churches, our government (the Executive, the Legislative and Supreme Court), our missionaries, our pastors, and the work of ONMI in South Sudan. We had a wonderful evening!
Field reports.
The last few weeks have been very busy ones for Operation Nehemiah. The Lord has given us the funding needed to complete the well project.
Water is life. It plays pivotal purposes both spiritually and physically in our lives. Jesus says, " And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is My disciple, truly I tell you, he will never lose his reward.” Matthew 10: 42
The well and the work of bringing the water up to the top of Gordon Mt. has begun! On April 26, 2017, we drilled a well at our radio compound on Gordon Mountain in Nimule, to provide water and sanitation for our staff members and their families. The well will also meet the needs of 100 families in the area who have fled violence and uncertainty in their villages and are temporarily settled in Nimule for protection. As they are waiting for things to improve in their villages, providing them with clean water and the Gospel. Jesus says " Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again. But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a fount of water springing up to eternal life." John 4: 14
Jonathan & Joyce Lueken have safe arrived home from South Sudan.
Jonathan and Joyce Lueken arrived in the USA on June 4th. We are thankful to the Lord for bringing Jonathan and Joyce Lueken here safely from South Sudan! Jonathan has been our longest, on the ground missionary who has been serving God with Operation Nehemiah in South Sudan for the past 2 years. He met Joyce ( my niece) there and they got married this month, last year, in South Sudan. Joyce is very pregnant and as I'm writing this letter, she is in in the process of delivering their first baby! Please pray for them.
Temporary relief has arrived to the people of South Sudan : After obtaining the evangelistic vehicle, which you have sown into, for the past few weeks we have been focusing on raising support to clear a forty foot container of rice meal that we shipped from the US to South Sudan in March. It was to help mostly IDPs (Internally Displaced Peoples) in the city of Nimule. Hunger has taken over the entire city. This is a temporary fix to the hunger problem while we plant food to help feed families, but never the less, it was a blessing to the people who received the rice.
A week ago the container arrived and our South Sudan leadership team received it. 56 head chiefs and 20 pastors were called to coordinate the distribution of this much needed help.
Tens of hundreds of people's lives have been touched. We thank God for the World Emergency Relief and Universal Aide Society for supporting our effort.
Pageri County has been impacted by war, cultivation has become difficult for the remaining civilian population. Right now we have only one tractor and 12 workers clearing and cultivating 200 acres of land. Additional tractors seeds and workers are needed for a long term effort. However, the work in our farmland is going forward.
Solemn Assembly on July 9th in Nimule, South Sudan .
We will be "celebrating" the 6th year of the independence of South Sudan on July 9th with day of Solemn assembly for Prayer...
Operation Nehemiah and the Pastors Forum will be setting the prayer event to pray for our beloved South Sudan in Nimule . The USA has been independent for 241 years. South Sudan has just been born. There is a lot of hope for South Sudan. God has not brought us this far to turn us back. All these trials we are going through as a nation is just temporary this to shall pass (2 Chronicles 7:14, Isaiah 59). This is an encouraging outreach to the community to the people in South Sudan. It is exactly what we have prayed for.
The Lord has and is continuing to do great things in South Sudan and we are so thankful to Him for all that He is accomplishing on our behalf!
Prayer Needs:
From our previous update, we expressed the need to get solar Imp-ax players to give out to over 5,000 people so that they can hear the gospel from our Radio station. But One Imp Ax player costs $30.00 and with shipping, it would be $35.00 a piece, and it would take at least 6 months to get them on the ground. So, God provided an even better way for us to get something cheaper, reasonable, and that arrive in South Sudan in a shorter time span! We are going to be buying MTN cell phones with FM station in it, and an SD card that can be loaded with the entire content of the Bible in English and in over 30 South Sudanese dialects.
We found that the cost of the MTN phones/ FM radio in UGX (Ugandan shillings) 45,000 = $11.8, and the entire purchase can be made in Uganda and shipped to South Sudan the next day! So our project goal is to start with 1,500 of these phones and it will cost $15,000. 1,500 people will be equipped with the Gospel tools to advance the Great Commission.
Summary:
Seed and farm tools, fuel : $5000
MTN FM Cell phone project : $15,000
Total budget: $20,000
